KEYNOTE SPEAKER
The Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool, is giving the keynote talk on 'Earthing the Gospel'. He says this means 'taking Christianity out of its private box and planting it in the world for which it was destined. The Gospel is concerned for the earth - its present and its future.'
WORKSHOPS & TRAINING SESSIONS
These will run twice in the afternoon. The workshops will enable clarification of the issues with a knowledgeable leader and will provide an opportunity for discussion. The Training Sessions aim to help participants in getting the message of Christian responsibility for God's creation across to the wider church and society.
A Christian attitude to animals
Deborah Jones is Secretary of the Catholic Study Circle for Animal Welfare and edits their magazine 'The Ark'. She is studying for a doctorate on animals and the church.
CEL and the Internet
Dr Judith Allinson, a Methodist, a botanist and CEL's web editor will host a discussion on how both CEL and individual members can make more use of the Internet.
Environmental implications of armed conflict
Deanna Douglas of the London Mennonite Centre will focus discussion on the links between war and its consequences for the environment as well as the innocent civilians caught in the midst of conflict.
Youth involvement in caring for creation
Miguel de Franca Doria, CEL's Youth Officer, will provide an opportunity for younger people to meet and plan activities which will reach out to their own age group.
Helping your church 'build the Ark'
Paul Bodenham & Ruth Jarman lead CEL's climate campaign, Operation Noah. Find out how you can get your church or community group on board, and so protect the poor and future generations from dangerous climate change.
How to campaign against GM food and farming
Martin Haggerty, an experienced anti-GM campaigner, will lead a practical session exploring the ways in which Christians can tackle pro-GM propaganda in the media and in our churches.
How to get the national church moving
Ven Michael Fox is Archdeacon of West Ham In the Anglican Chelmsford diocese. He will give ideas on how to influence national church leaders and get the wider church moving.
How to get the local church moving
George Dent is a former CEL National Co-ordinator who has worked for many years at encouraging local churches to take action on caring for God's creation.
How to use regional radio and newspapers
Rev Donald MacDonald is a former communications officer for the Anglican Derby Diocese. He will give helpful ideas on using regional radio and writing press releases.

Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church is located at 235 Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2. It is near the junction of Shaftesbury Avenue and New Oxford Street.
Parking is non-existent. Please come by tube or bus. The nearest tube stations are:

Holborn (400m).

Please bring your own food. Fairly traded tea and coffee will be available.

The whole day, including CEL's Annual Members' Meeting, is open to non-members. Any CEL member is welcome to just attend the AMM at 4.40pm at no cost.
The cost is £10 per person for non-members and £5 for CEL members who pre-book. CEL members who do not pre-book will have to pay £10 on the day.
