Build a Bird Box

Craven Conservation Group is teaming up with Natural England and Settle Town Council for a special fundraising event. We are having a stand at the Millennium Gardens , Kirkgate, Settle (outside Booths) so come on down and join in the fun building a bird box. Each box costs £5 to buy (once you have built it) if you would like to take it home and put it in your garden. If you are happy to donate your box to be put up in the town then the Town Council will contribute the £5 charge towards the Group.

At 2pm John Osborne (Natural England) will lead the mounting of the boxes on trees at the Millennium Gardens and by the River Ribble. For additional information telephone David Tayler on 01729 825953 or email david.tayler@ydmt.org

Come and help National Park staff led by Tim Thom to monitor the flora in this local nature reserve. You do not need to be an expert, as groups will include experienced and less experienced recorders so it can be a learning experience as well as helping the National Park team with their work. 1 1pm-4pm Tom Lord will lead a walk around his dales farm -Lower Winskill Farm and talk about the origins of meadows in the landscape and the farming practices that have shaped their development. This is the Vice County 64 meeting for the YNU botanists. It will visit the area around Scaleber Force in the morning and after lunch move to visit the Attermire/Langcliffe Local Nature Reserve. Park at the side of the green lane near Scaleber Force at SD 842623. All members are welcome including beginners who can learn from the experts present. Langcliffe, Friday 4th July, 9.30 a.m. to about 3.30 p.m. Meet at the
reserve car park (a mile out of Langcliffe on the Malham road, grid ref
SD835660), and bring waterproofs, boots or stout footwear, gloves and a
packed lunch if staying for the day. People coming just for the morning or
afternoon are equally welcome. A number of thistle stubbers will be
provided, but bringing a spade or scythe could also be useful.

Food will be a “Jacob's Join”, so bring along a special sweet or savoury dish of your choice and we will have a display picturing our first twenty-five years. Past and present members very welcome. Contact John Osborne 07967 971523 for details Volunteering for Natural England The Natural England team at Ingleborough National Nature Reserve are welcoming volunteers on certain dates. Practical activities will include vegetation management, tree planting, dry stone walling and fencing. Meet at Colt Park Barn at 9.00 am or contact John Osborne if you need collecting from Settle swimming pool or Ribblehead Station. Please note you must be registered with Natural England for insurance purposes and that travel expenses will be paid to volunteers. Please Contact John Osborne 07967 971523 beforehand for any of the meetings.

By PRIOR ARRANGEMENT ONLY It is also possible to meet at Settle Swimming Pool Car Park half an hour earlier than the stated times

If you have not been on a conservation work day before, it is doubly necessary that you contact John beforehand for insurance purposes.
